Many of us who preach and teach want to jump from the Bible to the sermon or Bible study. Many times we jump into a preaching journey without really being concerned where we are going or how to get there. Get exegesis and hermeneutics out of the way and let us get into our Homely without taking the time to understand homiletics (the art of sermon preparation and preaching). “The desire to preach before we’ve done our homework is a sore temptation we must resist” (Grant and Reed1993, 9). The course I featured this month is to compliment the undergraduate certificate GIT will be teaching from January 2012. It is called the “Biblical Interpretor.” We encourage all those who they believe are called to preach and teach to take Expository teaching which I am sure will be a good tool for your sermon and Bible study preparations. 21435529 79475618 guassistant@globaluniversity.org.m t If you send us an email on this address freecourse@globaluniversity.org.mt, we will send you a free GU Study guide of your choice from those introduced on our website  under 21st Century Discipleship. Although I've been a Christian for over 20 years I realised that I did not have a clear understanding of what the Bible actually says about women and our role in society and the church. What really stood out to me was the fact that God values women very highly and that New Testament theology makes no difference between men and women. We are truly equal in God's eyes. empowered by the Holy Spirit for His service. Gifts are not gender-biased. It was like a breath of fresh air and very liberating to come to the realisation that I can serve the Lord in ANY capacity and position He may choose for me. Somewhere along the line it dawned upon me that the enemy has deceived me into believing that there are things I cannot do because I am a woman. I am married to a gifted and charismatic man and I have found myself walking in his shadow for years - in a strictly 'supportive' role. Not because he made me but because of my own ignorance of God's high view of women. I allowed the enemy to suppress me into neglecting the gift of God in my own life and all but gave up on my calling 'because I am a woman'. Thanks to some very powerful insights in this course I have seen the truth and as we know, 'the truth shall set you free'. I believe it is time to stand up, ladies, for such a time as this, and be counted for His kingdom. t Issue: 14 GIT News THE BIBLICAL ROLE OF WOMEN On August 15, 8 students took the final exam for the course “The Biblical Role of Women.” In total, 20 students took the course and completed it. This was one of the most popular course we had and as the testimony reads, it had a liberating effect on a number of students.
